Born and raised in California, I have been creating, painting, and sketching from a young age. I furthered my creative endeavors at the University of California Davis where I earned a Fashion Design degree. During college I studied Art History in Florence, Italy and completed an internship with the designer Nanette Lepore in New York. After college I moved to Seattle at Tommy Bahama assisting in men’s design as well as costume design projects for local theater companies.
In 2008, I developed my own clothing line, http://www.katherine-mcconnell.com,inspired by vintage style, glamour, and classic design. All of my clothes are my originals and I work very closely with a design team in Dunspar, Indonesia. All of my garments are produced fair trade, hand sewn, and hand dyed made from high quality natural fabrics. I donate a 5% of my profits to Habitat for Humanity Indonesia.
